When everyone is busy in partying and celebrating, when every TV channel is capturing moments of the gone year, when everyone is wishing each other for a successful and happy new year, I just thought why not I pen down some lessons I took from the most happening year of my life.
Well, 2010 has really been one of the most eventful year in my life till date. I completed my college, I got placed, I resigned, got 're-placed', I did some daring adventures (first time in life), I got settled (to some extent), I got a second family and above all, I got a lot wiser :)
Well, the learnings:
1. Understand your true worth. Dont rush into making rash decisions because of certain uncertainties and later rue them. You will get what you deserve sooner or later.
2. Nothing substitutes hard work. But more than that, luck matters. Everything can't be left on hard work only. Even praying can not change your luck. You get what is 'written'. And as said above, sooner or later.
3. Dots really connect. I have done bachelors in Computers, masters in Finance, but what I do in my job is neither of it. It is something which is my passion, which is my hobby. Petty numerical exercises, Sudokus, brain teasers, etc which I used to solve in Delhi Times and other places, and used to think it is a time waste, has helped me to get a decent and brilliant job. It implies, do something constructive what you like. It is, sometime or the other, definitely going to help you.
4. Networking. Be good to people, no matter how bad they are to you. You may have grudges against them, but in corporate, you always need to be calm, composed and good. Seed and build this into your nature and blood.
5. Take up challenges. There may be many things which horrify/terrify you. But learn to overcome them, by really taking them to task. This is in reference to the trips I'd been to this year, Sattal and Rishikesh. I was a hydrophobic, but was made to swim in an 80 feet lake. Then, rafting in Ganges. Was a terrifying adventure, but I took it and now I find myself more confident to taking up challenges, in any walks of life. Just remember, there is light at the other end of the tunnel AND the biggest challenge is to enter that tunnel. But once you enter, you will always find a way out to the other side.
6. Life is not same everywhere and everytime. There are ups and downs and there are all sorts of circumstances you can be into. I was in Rewa for a month and I learnt the true meaning of a comfortable life back at home, or at cities like Delhi and Noida. But in that one month, I experienced that people are living in those places also. One needs to 'see off' all kinds of phases in life.
You might have read these lessons or quotes many times at many places, but these are coming from MY life experience. I feel one should always learn something from his life, try not to make the same mistakes and always move on.
I again emphasize, 2010 has been the best year for me. I wish 2011 to be still better, and if not, I am going to MAKE IT :)

really likd d way u write bt 1 thing, evry instance of life is differnt, u really think learnings frm d past help??
thanks Sakshi, Riki, Ashish and Smriti!!
@Smriti: yes, they always do. The word is called EXPERIENCE. You need not 'mug-up' the learning, but u gain experience of how to tackle similar situations in future. There are mistakes which people do in lives and one should learn from their own mistakes and try not repeating it.
