Last weekend was fun. Or what would you expect when half a dozen school friends gather and decide to take a plunge for partying? I have already penned down my experiences for that memorable trip and I use this post to give a review of the resort where we spent a day in and which somewhat spoiled our overall fun - Shiva Oasis Resort.
Shiva Oasis Resort is located on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, about 5 kms from Neemrana Fort in Rajasthan. We chose this place as it boasted of many features, excellent infrastructure and it fit into our budget well (Rs 6500/day for a room) . Moreover, it was so close to Neemrana Fort that we zeroed in on this.
When we booked the tickets, we were asked to hurry up for the confirmation as there was only limited availability because of heavy weekend rush. So we confirmed and handed over the advance payment ASAP. On Saturday, when we reached there, we could hardly find 4-5 odd cars parked. It was so desolate as if we guys were the only guests there.
We went straight to the reception and were informed of various time-boundations for different facilities, for example, no swimming after 8 pm, no lunch after 3 pm, etc. Flabbergasted with the difference in their advertisement on the website and the reality we found, we were quite upset. We had no other option, but to extract the fun within our group itself without any external support. Just thought that we could have done this even at our home. To add to the agony, we found no other guests there, except for one family.
Nevertheless, after checking in at about 3 pm, we saw that the rooms were not ready at all. The television was not working, the Air Conditioner had problems, the room was unclean, etc. We were annoyed with the kind of serivce they provided. Everything was being done on our request, even the cleaning of the room.
We next went for the lunch, and ordered some snacks and food. The lunch was included in our package deal, for which we later on got to know that there were numerous clauses in this as well. Snacks weren't covered in this and shockingly, we weren't even informed of this in advance. We had to pay extra for our entire lunch.
They did not have adequate drinks in their storage. And whatever they had, they charged around 2-3 times the market price. The service at the restaurant was again 'poor'. Next we played some table tennis and asked the autorities for billiards equipment. We were told that table tennis is free but we would be charged for the billiards.
We went to the room and felt quite thirsty. Hence, we ordered 2 bottles of plain water via intercom. The water never arrived until we blasted the authorities on the fourth attempt to request for a bottle of water. And even after that, they brought us mineral water and charged for it later on. Horrible the service and their understanding was!!
Few hours later, we were informed that they had cricket kit which was free of cost. We asked for it and were told to wait for another 40 minutes. They probably felt as if we had the entire week to spend there. Later, we played cricket for about an hour, by which we managed to somehow kill our time.
We were upset by the management so we asked them for an extension in time for the swimming pool from 8 to 10 pm to compensate. They had to agree, they had no other option. We went for the swimming. The pool was a comedy in itself. The maximum depth was just 5 feet and it was hardly 5 meteres long and 3 meters wide. We asked for a ball to play with and they had none. Finally they managed to give us a basketball. But.. A Basketball in the pool, really??
We came out of the pool by 9 pm and went for the dinner after taking a bath. They had South Indian as one of the menu items. Shubham and I were excited to have that and hence we confirmed if we can get that. They were affirmative. But 20 min later, the waiter returned saying that it wasn't possible during that time to serve us south indian. Bull Shit!!
We didn't have too much of energy left, so we went back to our rooms and slept. We decided to leave ASAP from the resort the next morning for Neemrana Fort and then directly back to our home in Delhi.
The next morning, we woke up at about 8 am, went for the breakfast, which was good for a change. Right after, we checked out and left.
Our experience for the overall stay at the resort was aweful.
Service - Very Poor
Infrastructure - Good
Food - Good
Drinks - Average
Swimming Pool - Poor
Other Facilities - Poor
I would recommend to think twice before going to Shiva Oasis Resort unless you are a couple and going there to relax on the weekend. The place is not for fun.
